To begin with, an intolerance or cat food allergy symptoms are not the same as an allergy.
In the first case the organism does not digest well certain foods and when consuming them, the person or pet can suffer an irritation of the intestine or stomach that causes colic’s or diarrhoea, for example.
An allergy is a much more serious issue, because when consuming a particular food or product, the body interprets that this is an invader and the immune system responds in an exaggerated way to it by releasing various substances, such as histamine, which can cause serious reactions such as fever, convulsions and, in the most serious cases, even death.
Some studies claim that it is more common to have food intolerance in animals that have not breastfed or have not done it long enough, because this milk transmits many defences and antibodies that could be lacking.
Most common intolerance in dogs and cat food allergy symptoms are as follows:
–Lactose: It is not common for animals to consume milk from adults and therefore the body is not adapted to lactose. This can cause diarrhoea and gastric discomfort. This happens even in puppies, because cow’s milk is very strong for them. In the case of very small peludines it can be especially serious because diarrhoea can end up causing the death of the puppy.
–Gluten: Many dogs and especially many cats are gluten intolerant. It is logical, since raw cereals are highly toxic and would never be consumed by them, so your body is not designed to digest it. Many foodstuffs carry wheat flours and can cause allergies, in which case you have to opt for cereal-free feed.
–Additives: Some additives that are added to food can also cause intolerance. These additives are used to give more flavor to food and, as with human food, are more frequent in low quality to disguise its flavor and make it more attractive.
To avoid further cat food allergy symptoms, the consumption of high-end feed or food is recommended.
