Kings XI Punjab defeated Rajasthan Royals by 14 runs controversially in their first match of IPL in Jaipur with the help of Chris Gayle’s Atishi half-century. Beginning the innings, Gayle started slowly but quickly opened his hands. He scored 79 runs in 47 balls with the help of eight fours and four sixes, which helped Punjab to 184 for four.
In response, Rajasthan’s team seemed to be approaching the target. Jose Butler played an aggressive innings of 69 runs and did not spare any Punjab bowler. He completed the half-century in just 29 balls with the help of eight fours and two sixes. Butler and Ajinkya Rahane added 78 runs in eight overs. Rahane was dismissed by Punjab captain R Ashwin.
