Venture Global LNG, a liquefied natural gas company based in the United States, filed a lawsuit against construction contractor Kiewit on Friday, claiming that the company gave Shell Plc confidential documents. Adventure Worldwide LNG’s Calcasieu Pass plant has been at the focal point of a long-running debate including energy organizations including BP Plc (BP.L), opens new tab, Shell and others over admittance to LNG from the plant.
“Kiewit was shared with this data with empower its work to build a flammable gas liquefaction and commodity terminal in Cameron Ward, Louisiana created by Adventure Worldwide,” Adventure Worldwide said in a New York State High Court filing.The classified data included restrictive undertaking improvement, plan, setup techniques, and nitty gritty data about the extravagant office’s plan and development, Adventure Worldwide said.
The company added in the filing, “Kiewit admits that it disclosed thousands of pages of confidential information to Shell, and its project manager for the facility has been speaking directly with Shell about the project.” Venture Global stated that it will seek an arbitration award to prevent Kiewit from disclosing any additional confidential information.
Venture Global issued a statement to Reuters that read, “We are equally disappointed by Shell who appears to have solicited this disclosure.” Kiewit is “checking on and assessing this lawful matter,” a representative told Reuters by email. Shell didn’t answer Reuters’ solicitation for comment.
The Arlington, Virginia-based association’s Calcasieu Pass plant has been delivering and transporting LNG for over two years, however has not given agreement clients supplies, it isn’t yet completely functional to say the plant. In June, the Federal Energy Regulatory Commission ordered Venture Global to provide customers with documents regarding the Louisiana plant’s startup and mechanical issues.
BP and Shell in January requested that FERC force Adventure Worldwide LNG to deliver archives to decide why business tasks were slowed down, referring to the deferral as “extraordinary and mysterious.”
