On Monday morning many schools are been reopened for the first time since they closed down in March due to the coronavirus lockdown, a school in Rome with more than 1,500 children between the age of six and 13 moved four of its 65 classrooms to a nearby church.
Monday’s reopening took place amid social distancing and hygiene regulations and space is essential to make sure the rules are followed.
Schools around the country have been searching for more space to welcome back their students safely.
“The Parish has been an asset for us”, said Cinzia Giacomobono, the principal of the school “Acquedotti”, as 101 students were moved into the rooms of the San Policarpo Parish.
The city of Rome has signed an agreement with the church officials under which 68 classrooms and a total of 1,311 students from different schools in Rome have been moved into classrooms on the premises of religious institutions.
The agreement involves 13 parishes along with 2 religious schools.
The students will follow the same program and standards of their schoolmates.
