The pair of Indian shooter Manu Bhaker and Saurabh Chaudhary also won the gold medal of the event, setting a new world record in qualification in the ten-meter air pistol mixed team on Wednesday at the ongoing 12th Asian Airgun Championships in Taoyuan, Taipei. Both of them had won the gold in the ISSF World Cup in the same event in Delhi just a month earlier.
In the qualification, 17-year-old Manu and 16-year-old Saurabh together scored 784 points and broke the record set by Russia’s Vitalina Batasraskina and Artem Chernosov in the European Championship five days ago.
This Indian pair won the gold medal by securing first place in the final of five teams with 484.8 points. The pair of Korea’s Hwang Seonggun and Kim Moj took the bronze medal with a score of 481.1, followed by Silver and Taipei’s Chia Ying and Kou Kuan Ting with 413.3.
According to a statement from the National Rifle Association of India (NRAI), the other Indian duo Anuradha and Abhishek Verma also participated in the finals, but had to settle for fourth place with 372.1 points.
