US President Donald Trump on Friday accepted the resignation of United Nations Delegate to the UN, Nicky Hailey.
The US president said in a statement to reporters at the White House that “Hailey will remain in office until the end of this year until a replacement is chosen”.
He said Halley had told him about his intention to resign six months ago, saying “he would announce his successor within two weeks to three weeks”.
Ambassador Nicky Hayley has been the permanent representative of the United States to the United Nations from January 2017.
On the other hand, the Secretary-General of the United Nations Antonio Guterres expressed his deep appreciation for the excellent cooperation and support shown by Ambassador Hayley of the United Nations Delegate to the UN.
“The two sides have always had a very productive working relationship during Ambassador Halli’s tenure as Permanent Representative Of the United States.
The Secretary-General looked forward to continuing to work with Ambassador Hailey until the end of her mandate by the end of this year.
