Saudi Arabia has suspended all medical treatment programs in Canada on Wednesday and is planning to remove all patients from the country.
This is a further consequence of the dispute between the two countries that began with Ottawa’s request for the release of human rights activists, an attitude the Prince of Arabia considered intrusive.
Since Monday the Arab country has frozen new businesses and investments with Canada, expelled the Canadian ambassador and canceled cooperation programs in education.
This dispute could have negative consequences for the Canadian economy, since in 2017 exports to the Arab country totalled more than one billion dollars.
