The famous Apple analyst Ming-Chi Kuo has predicted that Apple will upgrade its AirPods with new features in 2019. The famed analyst states that the demand for the AirPods will grow drastically in the coming years. Earlier this year, a Bloomberg report claimed that Apple is planning is planning to include noise cancellation functionality and water resistance to a completely new version of the AirPods that may launch somewhere between 2019. The rumors also claim the possibility of the addition of biometric sensors such as heart rate monitor to new AirPods¸ but the price tag for that will be definitely higher than the first model’s $159.
Mr. Kuo’s prediction for the 2019 version of AirPods is for a much tamer device. The analyst also predicts that Apple may be adding wireless charging support, a revised W-series chip and Bluetooth 5.0 to it. The mention of wireless charging support for AirPods 2019 raises the possibility because of Apple’s soon to be launched wireless charging case with AirPower mat. The case will have a rigid flex board internal component upgrade, and it will also have a redesigned hinge to accommodate the highest thermal requirements and to support appearance changes.
But, Mr. Kuo’s predictions for AirPods 2020 meanwhile are predicted to be much bigger. He claims the 2020 AirPods will have an all-new design, though he did not provide any details on redesign and looks of the wireless earbuds. While it remains to be seen whether the upgraded AirPods are coming soon or not, these drastic improvements are definitely going to bring a huge improvement in its annual sales for sure. If Kuo’s predictions are correct, we definitely going to see the appearance of new earbuds in 2019 and 2020. Fingers crossed and let’s hope for the best.
