Suicide is one of the most widespread issues that plague the modern world, and now Actor Christian Massa is Bringing Awareness to Suicide.
Suicide rates have increased over 30% since the year 2000 – The rate increased by about 1 percent per year from 2000 through 2006 and by about 2 percent per year from 2006 through 2016.
While many people turn a blind eye to the topic, Christian Massa does not.
Christian Massa, is a 27-year-old actor and entrepreneur from West Haven, Connecticut, who has played several principal roles, including the lead role of Ken Register, on Discovery ID.
In 2016, he produced the independent short film Pressure, alongside his brother, Joe Massa.
The film was accepted into several film festivals nationwide, and premiered at the Regal LA Live in Los Angeles, California, on October 7th, 2016. As an actor and filmmaker, Christian figured the best way to spread awareness on the subject would be through film.
In the film, Christian portrays a man burdened by suicidal ideologies – depicted as a dark-cloaked, bony figure.
Throughout the film, Christian’s character is consistently hounded by the cloaked figure, who proposes several different ways to accept his offers of suicide. In the end, the man overcomes these thoughts, confronts the cloaked figure, and pulls off its shroud of darkness, ultimately defeating the entity.
Recently in 2018, Christian’s brother Joe created the compelling web series My Suicide Story, which features real survivors of attempted suicide who share the stories of their struggles and triumphs over suicide, in an attempt to help others struggling with similar thoughts. Christian is the assistant director on this ongoing project.
In the time since signing on as assistant director to My Suicide Story, Christian plans to combine his passion for acting and film-making by creating a production company, which would allow him the opportunity to collaborate with other actors and industry professionals.
